My alter-ego in artwork is my fondness for working with natural wood pieces to find the raw beauty and transform it into a usable piece of art. My wife and I have been making micro batches of wine for nearly 2 decades, so the need for storage had me thinking of functional art while I was out on one of my many photographic ventures. While hiking through the forest and looking at many decaying tree stumps, the idea came to me. I started to experiment with many weathered wood pieces and worked them until the unique beauty of each species is the focus point, just like in photography.
